the Joybuilder
Tasked with redesigning an existing website that no longer reflected the client’s brand, I created a refreshed digital presence aligned with their provided themes and business goals. I began by developing visual drafts in Canva to establish layout and direction, then built and deployed the fully operational website using Wix, ensuring both functionality and brand consistency.

previous site evaluation
Starting with the client’s previous website, she expressed dissatisfaction with the layout, the color pairings, and the presence of misinformation. Overall, she felt the site did not align with her vision or accurately represent her brand.
The previous site consisted of a single page containing all of the elements shown above. While there was an option for visitors to purchase event tickets, there was no clear way to navigate back to the homepage.

Using the mood board she provided—highlighting her theme, brand colors, and fonts—along with the shown pictures as her starting points for me, I was able to fully align the redesign with her vision. After reviewing the site and taking detailed notes, I concluded that it needed to remain bright and visually engaging while improving its overall flow. Although the homepage video effectively draws visitors in, the structure needed refinement to guide them smoothly through the content and keep them engaged with the business.
design drafts

Beginning with the first section of the homepage, it was important that it felt inviting. I chose to keep the promotional video as a focal point, while ensuring her branding remained clearly highlighted so the site felt cohesive rather than disconnected. In the first iteration, I experimented with placing the brand name over the video; however, it felt visually cluttered and distracting. In the final design, I instead incorporated a photo of the client to highlight the person behind the events. This approach felt more personal and inviting, while encouraging visitors to learn more about her and the brand.

Continuing with the homepage, I wanted her core values to stand out, as they are a meaningful part of her brand identity. Her events are central to her business, so rather than including only a small excerpt at the bottom of the homepage, I created a dedicated events page where they could be showcased in greater detail. I also refined the footer to ensure it included all essential information while remaining visually aligned with the overall aesthetic of the site.
For the About Us page, I wanted to move away from presenting too much text at once. Although the original content was only a short paragraph, this page centers around the client herself, so it needed to feel light, airy, and engaging. I incorporated multiple images to showcase her personality and began experimenting with collage layouts. I created an initial draft in Canva to explore the direction before building the final design.
Because she provided so many beautiful photos, I intentionally highlighted images that captured her genuinely enjoying her work, reinforcing the authenticity behind her brand.
For her excerpt and story, I broke the text into smaller sections to improve readability and visual appeal, while emphasizing key phrases that reflected her passion.

As mentioned in my analysis of the previous website, I decided to create a dedicated Events page to allow each event to be presented in greater detail. Because every event included so many beautiful photos, I wanted them to be easily accessible within a single page or element, rather than requiring users to navigate to multiple separate pages.
Since the visuals are the true highlight, I kept the written descriptions concise to avoid overwhelming the layout. I worked with the client to gather key details and a brief synopsis for each event, ensuring users could quickly understand the range of her services while keeping the focus on the experience itself.

The Services page needed to offer far more clarity than the brief bullet points listed on the home page. I began with a strong header image to immediately draw users in, then structured the content in a clean grid layout to clearly organize each service. Initially, I experimented with hidden text that would appear on hover or click, but it quickly became clear that this interaction could create navigation challenges and reduce accessibility. For the final design, I aligned the layout with the Events page, pairing each service with a past event as a visual reference.
final website
The final presentation showcases a thoughtfully restructured website built around clarity, usability, and visual impact. I addressed key issues from the previous version by improving navigation, separating content into purposeful pages, and creating consistent design patterns throughout. Strategic layout choices — such as grid organization, strong header imagery, and service-to-event visual pairing — enhance user understanding and engagement. The result is a functional, user-centered site that aligns with the client’s brand while providing a seamless browsing experience.
